Zusammenfassung:

This document outlines the capabilities of the Cogent Computing Applied Research
Centre, within the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at Coventry
University. The Centre was established as a research group in 2000, as part of
the University’s Design Institute (which was awarded a rating of 4 in the 2002
RAE). Its aim was to become the West Midland region’s premier centre for research
in Pervasive Computing. In January 2006, the group was recognised
by Coventry University as part of the University’s strategic research plan, and
was elevated to the status of an Applied Research Centre (ARC), the first to be
so recognised in the University. The Centre was awarded £450 000 strategic
infrastructure funding, which has been used to establish key research themes
in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs).
